Alceu Feldmann won again and the flags of Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina shone on the podium

Goiania, June 5, 2022 – The debutant Alceu Feldmann was the man of the third date of the TCR South America. After being ahead in practice, taking pole and winning Saturday’s race, the Brazilian in the #17 CUPRA of the W2 Pro GP also won the last race of the weekend. After starting in tenth position, Feldmann managed to overtake Juan Manuel Casella on the penultimate lap to get on the first step of the podium.

After a great start, the Uruguayan Casella with the #60 PMO Racing Peugeot was in the lead for the first fifteen laps and finished in second place, after being overtaken by the CUPRA. The top3 of the day was completed by the Argentinian Fabricio Pezzini and with that result he stretched the difference in the championship, beating Raphael Reis by 23 points.

The race had different circumstances. Edson Reis, who was the poleman, was unable to start the race due to a mechanical failure in his #12 Hyundai. In this way, Bia Figueiredo started alone in the first row with the Audi #3 and behind were Marcio Basso and Pedro Aizza. The two Brazilians had a false start and the one who took the lead was Casella, jumping from fifth to the top.

After the penalties, the one who began to advance very quickly was Feldmann who reached second place after beating Juan Ángel Rosso, Raphael Reis, Pezzini and Manuel Sapag.

Feldmann caught up with the Uruguayan on lap 14 and attacked twice from the outside, but the Peugeot driver defended the position. However, in the penultimate lap the Brazilian arrived at the end of the main straight with great speed and in a maneuver on the outside in turns 1, 2 and 3 he was able to take the lead until victory.

In the Trophy Cup, the victory went to the local rider Renato Braga, ninth overall. The podium was completed by Fabio Casagrande and Marcio Basso.

After passing through Brazil, the TCR South America departs for Uruguay. Rivera will be the fourth race on July 16 and 17.

“We had a few practices where we prioritized finding the right setup for the race. That was the result of the car yesterday and today it was perfect. I had some trouble at the beginning to gain positions, but I knew I was the fastest driver on the track. With two laps to go, Casella defended strongly, but I was able to overtake him from the outside. I was very well received in the category and I’m sure the championship will be difficult. Now we go to tracks that we don’t know and we have to learn”.
Alceu Feldmann

“I focused a lot on the start and it went very well. I jumped from fifth to first and got a very good gap. Feldmann caught up with me at the end and I only managed to hold him for one lap. I couldn’t do more than that. Still, I’m happy with the second place in Goiania”.
Juan Manuel Casella

“It was a very good and tough race for me. The fuel pump pressure problem appeared again and the car was failing. In the end, I managed to lose a few seconds due to the fight at the front, but third place is very good. Now we are more leaders than ever. In short, it was an important result for the championship”.
Fabricio Pezzini

“A wonderful race. Racing and winning at home is every driver’s dream. I had a good start that helped me take the lead in the Trophy Cup and then it was just a matter of managing the pace.”
