Juan Ángel Rosso leads the free practice of the TCR South America in Rivera

Rivera, July 15, 2022 – After three dates with dry and very hot weather in Brazil, the TCR South America began its Uruguayan phase in Rivera with a wet track and a temperature of ten degrees. In this context, who prevailed at the end of the day, was the Argentine Juan Ángel Rosso, with the Honda Civic #26 of the Squadra Martino.

The only free practice of the day was marked by three red flag interruptions. With a time of 1:25.395, Rosso beat Brazilian Raphael Reis in the #77 CUPRA of the W2 Pro GP by 1.1 seconds.

Previously, the 18 cars registered for the date had performed a shakedown, an activity that had Reis at the top with a time of 1:24.990. Championship leader Argentine Fabricio Pezzini was second fastest in this session in the #07 Lynk & Co of the PMO Motorsport team.

Tomorrow there will be another 30 minutes of free practice and the general classification. Sunday is reserved for the two races on the date.

STATEMENT

“It was 1.1s, the advantage is great. From shakedown the car felt good in this track condition. In shakedown we were already fine and we decided not to turn any more because we believed that the track was going to improve in practice. Also the track did not improve at all, but it is a condition that I like to drive. Being logical and safe, you can be fast and the lap I did was quite good, although in some places I exceeded it and it could be improved”.
Juan Angel Rosso

“A peculiar track condition, it was quite wet, but not that wet for a wet tyre. In shakedown we found a better way and we did a good lap. In the second practice I was also fine, but I realized that it was not necessary to go to the limit today. We don’t know the state of the track for tomorrow, but we are confident.”
